> Skaven on the keys: (from Ireland, new letter'n infos on 15-Feb-96 ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peter "Skaven" Hajba started his musical career (so to speak) in the fall of 1991, when he registered his copy of ScreamTracker. Him joining Future Crew is a story in itself. It all started because of a bug in ST about which Skaven decided to contact the author, Sami "Psi" Tammilehto. Psi asked him to betatest the upcoming new version of ST - and as Skaven composed little tunes while testing it, Psi soon thought they could be used in 'Unreal' - and doing that would mean Skaven joining the Future Crew. It's around this time this collection of his musical tunes is started. The collection does not contain his much older '.STM' tunes, for he thinks they're not quite worth it. Skaven has no formal musical training, and even in high school he chose art instead of music. On the other hand, music could be said to be "in the family" for him, as many of his relatives from his father's side are either amateur or professional musicians. What comes to his influence, he tends to refer to the music he listens to as "raw material" - as his collection of music consists almost entirely of synthesizer music, ambient music, classical and minimalistic; the list of names he listens to includes Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Philip Glass, Art of Noise, Danny Elfman, Ray Lynch, Klaus Schultze, YMO/Technodon and several others - yet all known for special instrumental, non-lyric music. Due to the lackof money, Skaven hasn't been able to afford synthesizers. Constant coping with this problem has forced him to acquire samples from other songs - but few can tell this, because he tends to "rip" rather creatively, often mixing and manipulating the samples and effects for his own purposes. Not many of them can even be recognized. Perhaps in the future, though, money will not be a limit to his creativity. At the moment, he sees his future in freelance graphics and music, but only time will tell. His recent studies in an animation school in Dublin, Ireland, meant a year's break and absence from the scene, but not an end. He wishes to pursue a career in both graphics and music, and - if possible - offer his work for making computer games. While this info-file was written, he was still a student in Dublin, and was returning to Finland by the summer 1996. Because of this, his home address isn't quite clear yet. The people willing to contact him are advised to address their letters to this address, from summer '96 and for two years: Peter Hajba Eerikinkatu 5 F 149 20110 Turku Finland ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Thanks for all, Skaven! :) And I really hope you'll go on composing! Yes, you have to!:)
