Short: DBLPAL:768x576 monitor driver for AGA Author: martinsemail@home.se (Martin Eriksson) Uploader: martinsemail home se (Martin Eriksson) Type: driver/moni Version: 1.0 Architecture: m68k-amigaos REQUIREMENTS: - The MIPrefs-program from aminet/util/misc/MonSpecsMUI.lha - DblPAL-monitor-driver from AmigaOS3.9 (OS3.1 probably works) - A monitor that can view 47Hz, 28,20kHz DESCRIPTION: It's a replacement for the .info file for the DblPAL monitor driver. This .info file has tooltypes that makes it possible to view DblPAL (hires no flicker) screens in 768x576. 768x576 is the same resolution as ordinary PAL-TV-screens. But TV's don't show the whole screen like your monitor can do and in this mode you're also spared from the interlace-flicker because this mode is NOT interlaced. This mode is nice. It has NO things like a corrupted mousepointer at the the right edge and/or thin vertical lines, (mostly gray), at the edges, (mostly left edge). I used a program named 'MonSpecsMUI' to configurate the tooltypes. You can modify these tooltypes yourself, but it's not recomended. You can destroy your monitor if you not know what you're doing! IF you're about to modify the tooltypes yourselfe, then use that program. Don't change the tooltypes values by hand and read their manuals before! INSTALLATION: Make sure you have the DblPAL monitor driver that came with OS3.9 in your SYS:Devs/Monitors/ drawer. It may work with earlier versions also but I have only tested the one that came with OS3.9. Also make sure you have VGAOnly and VGAOnly.info in your Sys:Devs/Monitors/ I havn't test this without it. It may works thow. Replace your old 'DblPAL.info' file with the one from this archive. Copy the file named 'MIPrefs' to C: from the 'MonSpecsMUI.lha' -archive that can be found on Aminet. Make a backup of your old files before, if you think you'll need them in the future. Copy them to a any place you prefer. Put this two lines somewhere after IPrefs in your S:Startup-Sequence SYS:Prefs/Overscan USE MIPrefs Then reboot. After that, use SYS:Prefs/Screenmode and select 'DblPAL:768x576 HiRes no flicker'. If it doesn't look ok at a first look when you test, use or save, then save and reboot. Don't modify DblPAL in the Overscan preferences! You don't need to do that. You'll have 768x576 anyway. You don't even need 'overscan.prefs' in SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/Sys/ at all for this. If you still have problems then delete or move away your SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/Sys/overscan.prefs and reboot. It works fine for me and it should work for you but I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMEGES CAUSED BY THIS SOFTWARE OR BY THE INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS! Good luck! ABOUT MY MACHINE: Amiga1200 with Blizzard 1260 and a 20" PHILIPS SVGA monitor. Kickstart 3.1 OS3.9 (it should work with OS3.1 as well, but I have not checked)
