Short: Best toolsdeamon replacement for OS3.9! Author: selector@boray.every1.net (Anders Persson) Uploader: selector boray every1 net (Anders Persson) Type: util/wb Version: 1.0 Architecture: m68k-amigaos Description The ultimate toolsdeamon replacement for OS3.9! When marking an icon on the Workbench, instead of just clicking, hold the button down for half a second, then release and a menu will appear with choices of what to do with the selected file. Could it be easier? Just one simple click to select the file and open the menu at the same time, and the menu pops up at the mouse pointer. This sure beats Toolsdeamon. Installation Doubleclick the install icon. Or do the following manually: Copy the files in IconMenu/s/ to S: Copy the file in IconMenu/c/ to C: Load on your startup? Copy the IconMenu/IconMenu script and icon to the SYS:WBStartup drawer. Test Start by doubleclicking the IconMenu icon. (The menu is hidden) Then mark any icon on the Workbench. But instead of just a short click on the icon, hold the button down for half a second while holding the mouse perfectly still, then release. - the menu will appear. Press MultiView to load the selected file into MultiView or press Edit to load the file into Editpad. Modify When the menu is visible - Press E key to edit the menu. Modify it for your favourite editor, add more programs to the menu or whatever. If you don't like the system menu look, then just remove that part from the script. Then save and... that's it. Next time you make the menu appear, the changes will be there. No need to restart IconMenu or to reload the script. IconMenu is a "Selector" script (or two actually). You can download the full selector archive from Aminet (util/batch/selector93.lha). Or from http://listen.to/boray - It contains the full documentation of what you can do with your menu. The possibilities are endless really. But for now, here is the most important: To add a new choice to the menu, just add another button command line to the end of the script. According to this template: button ChoiceName run 'dh1:tools/program "[arg1]"' exit where "[arg1]" will be the file marked on the workbench, dh1:tools/progam is the program to load the file into, and ChoiceName is the choice that will apear on the menu. How do I stop the invisible script (S:IconMenuStart.sel)? Setenv IconMenu stop I don't want to edit the menu with C:ED!!! Setenv selectorEditor dh1:tools/MyEditor copy env:selectorEditor envarc: (Or just load the file S:IconMenu.sel into any text editor instead of pressing E key). Known bugs Doesn't work on icons that has been left out on the Workbench. Good Luck with this ultimate Toolsdeamon replacement for OS3.9! Kind Regards Anders Persson http://listen.to/boray
