To connect DB-25 cables of Apple II family peripheral cables to the serial ports of the Apple IIGS, use the Apple IIGS Peripheral Adapter Cable. This short cable's male mini-circular 8 connector plugs into the IIGS printer and phone serial ports with the female mini-circular 8 connectors on the back of the IIGS. The DB-25 connector at the other end of the adapter cable will take the DB-25 connectors of the DB-25 cables used with many Apple peripherals. Some modems and communications software may need a DCD signal and therefore may require a modem eliminator cable in the cable configuration. The modem eliminator cable flips pins 2 with 3 and 6 with 20 and passes GPi access through to pin 8.
