AFL Gayle : You may make up to 35 classroom copies with your purchase of StoryWorks from TI&IE for $49. Site and district licenses are also available. TI&IE is found in our SIG area here in AED. AFL Gayle : Tutor Tech allows you to make 50 copies for the AFL Gayle : price of one package. Tutor Tech is available in our Direct Connect area. AFL Gayle : WordPerfect allows you to make 7 copies for each package you buy under the School Software Program license. AFL Gayle : We do not use protocol here in AED. We will give away two free hours to the people who say the secret words. You must talk to win! :) AFL Gayle : AFL Gayle : OK. Done. :) Bard, did you have any favorite companies you wanted to share with us? (Or anyone else?) Talk lots, Midge and Mary. We've got 2 free hours to give away. :) AFA Bard : Sure... Broderbund software offers site licensing of many of their favorites... they're expensive, though... about $750 per title - although they will negotiate. Sunburst site licenses based upon your past dealings with their company. Our system site licensed their Geom. Supposer program for $1200, while the next district paid almost twice that much. :) MIDGEF : Delta Draw is a multi-load program but they sell site licenses too. MaryEz : Are site licenses more costly than networkable versions? MIDGEF : (No networked stuff here:( AFL Gayle : Not in the case of Orange Cherry, Mary. Site license is twice the catalog price AFL Gayle : Network is 2 times the catalog price. MIDGEF : I'm hoping that the demo version of Delta will be available for uploading soon MaryEz : Boy, Gayle, You're really testing my math tonight!! AFL Gayle : Great! Looking forward to seeing that, Midge. How soon? MIDGEF : I have a beta version and can give it to clients but I'm waiting for the word MIDGEF : so I can mail it to you or get Jeff to use the AO software and do it himself MaryEz : I'd love to be a test site for any software. We have 24 computers in lab setting plus some in MaryEz : classrooms. MIDGEF : Email me your address and I can send you some info AFL Gayle : I'll be glad to post it if you mail it to me and have the OK. OK, will do. AFL Gayle : Thanks! :) MIDGEF : I love working for these people and using Delta MIDGEF : Is there a site license for Appleworks? AFL Gayle : Yes. Hold on, Midge. I'll find the information. MaryEz : The problem with any site license or any other software this next year, is that my budget is $238 for 524 kids. AFA Bard : AW is currently $1500 per building - but they negotiate. MaryEz : So I'll just be buying ribbon, disks, and paper for next year. MIDGEF : Well...Delta Drawing is only $69.95 and you get 2 disks that are multiload AFL Gayle : Hmmm, it just lists site licenses, not networked version here in the Claris MaryEz : Can you legally multiload computers? AFL Gayle : brochure. MIDGEF : Thanks..I wanted to tell these schools that AW is not free... MIDGEF : Yes...checking package hold on AFA Bard : Networked version is free if you already have a site license. AFL Gayle : It says if installing a network, we recommend the AppleTalk Network, so I guess AFA Bard : Not with AppleWorks, Mary. AFL Gayle : the $1,750 gets you the site license with networking free. ;) MIDGEF : Delta: can use on all computers located in a single classroom AFL Gayle : For information about site licensing or quantity discounts, call Site License AFA Bard : So you'll buy a "site license" for all classrooms where it's in use on multiple computers? MIDGEF : they offer network and site licenses upon request AFL Gayle : Information 1-800-747-SIT AFL Gayle : What will the one package cost when it is released, Midge? MIDGEF : It is released....$69.95 for single package which has two disks that can be MIDGEF : used on all computers in a single classroom MIDGEF : IBM and Apple versions are ready AFA Bard : A bargain, Midge! MIDGEF : works with Mac LC in emulation MIDGEF : We have used the old version since 1982 MIDGEF : (Cute screen names) MIDGEF : MIDGE F is my license plate AFA Bard : Not APPLE2, Midge? AFA Bard : :) MIDGEF : I think someone in MA has it already (and I own a Mac also) MIDGEF : Well...back to the subject AFA Bard : I tried EVERYTHING to get something like that -- but Apple's big Southern Operations parking lot shows where THEY all went. It's like a game show there... MAC, A2, WOZ, you name it! MIDGEF : We have a site license for Tutor Tech MIDGEF : But only Ragen and I make stacks so far AFA Bard : We site licensed Roger Wagner's HyperStudio. It's GREAT on a network, too. MIDGEF : (Sigh...only 2 GS's) AFL Gayle : Anybody who buys Tutor Tech automatically gets a site license with it. With or without hardware, Bard? MaryEz : I have Tutortech and copy under the 50 copies allowed with the software. AFA Bard : Without, Gayle. One "speaker & card" came with the kit, but the GS speaker does a good enough job - MIDGEF : We got another so more disks could be made..and involve more teachers but then AFA Bard : and the speaker is portable. We don't digitize sound much- it's a memory hog! MIDGEF : Ragen got pinkslipped AFA Bard : Ragen. :((( You'll surely miss her! MIDGEF : Yes..it's a crime to see her be <<<>>and {{{mom}}} ONLY MIDGEF : I never had a real job other than grants so I just help inbetween jobs MIDGEF : I'm free lance now...no bucks but lots of time to explore my software and write MIDGEF : lessons etc. MIDGEF : The Delta beta keeps me busy and I'll do the Tutor Tech when its ready MaryEz : Hi, Ragen AFL Gayle : Speaking of... Hi, Ragen! :) MIDGEF : I LOVE doing betas AFA Bard : RAGEN!! Your ears must've been burning. :)) We were RagenT : Hello Friends! AFA Bard : all saying great things about you! AFA Bard : Hiya MARTY!!!!!! MaryEz : Bard, would you say that a site license saves you any money on software over time? MIDGEF : Ragen and I are Tutor Tech maniacs RagenT : As soon as I get all my loose ends tied up I'll be able to TT again. AFA Bard : Hmmm.. I think so - especially if the site license includes at least one upgrade. It certainly saved AFA Bard : us money on AppleWorks - we now have over 300 copies in our building - we have 85 staff members. MaryEz : I've been buying lab packs of 5 or 10 disks to use in the lab and doing cooperative projects. AFA Bard : Hmmm.. how many computers, Mary? AFL Gayle : What programs are you using for cooperative projects, Mary? MaryEz : 24 computers. Dazzle Draw, VCR Companion, Children's Writing and Publishing mostly. AFA Bard : If your use is confined to the lab, you might consider lab packs... for those that are used AFA Bard : a lot outside the lab - Print Show, CW & P.. you should investigate a site license. MaryEz : I put 3 kids in a group. I run VCR Companion and Dazzle Draw together and integrate them into videos MIDGEF : I'm using VCR Companion and Delta Drawing to make a video MaryEz : I have site license for Logowriter. AFA Bard : Primary edition? AFL Gayle : LogoWriter is expensive to start with, but the site license is worthwhile if MaryEz : Midge, can you convert Delta to VCR Companion format? AFL Gayle : it's used a lot. MIDGEF : Delta graphics are either HR or DHR in format AFA Bard : A "home license" is also available for LogoWriter - it's $100 per site if you have a license and well AFA Bard : worth it! MIDGEF : You set Delta depending on the memory of your Apple AFA Bard : Mary.. there are graphics conversion programs in the application section of AGR that will do that too. MIDGEF : I think VCR Companion will take them to convert but I haven't tried it yet MaryEz : I use the utility on VCR Companion to convert DHR Dazzle draw pictures for use in the videos. MIDGEF : Delta graphics import into Publish it, Dazzle Draw, 8/16 Paint, Tutor Tech AFL Gayle : Hurray! Applause for Ragen. She mastered sending files by mail. :)) MIDGEF : and Super Story Tree MaryEz : The kids are doing video commercials right now and one requirement is to draw their own backgrounds MIDGEF : }}}}{{{{{ clapping RagenT : (Stupid me...) AFA Bard : ()()()()()()()! Ragen!!! Yippee!! You graduate! AFA Bard : Wow, Mary.. that sounds great! MaryEz : Yea!!! Ragen. MIDGEF : I have one H--- of a time uploading AFA Bard : If anyone has hyperstudio, the dinosaur stack just uploaded is great for the little 'uns. :)) See AFA Bard : our NEW FILES library! AFA Bard : Also.. some inside information on the new IIe card for the MAC LC is hiding in a text file in the same AFA Bard : area. :)) A MUST download! MIDGEF : Ragen's going to borrow my HyperStudio and then teach it to me... RagenT : The local tv station asked me to join their "free" workshop and are teaching AFL Gayle : LOL! :) That's a great idea, Midge. :) MaryEz : One of these days I'll buy some disks and download everything I can. I never seen to have a disk to use. MIDGEF : I hate Roger's manuals AFA Bard : Mary needs a hard drive. :) RagenT : me the ins of video so I will probably start incoporating video with computers. AFA Bard : Manuals? Who reads manuals? MIDGEF : I'm considering a hard drive MIDGEF : (I do..) MaryEz : It's almost full, Bard. I need a bigger one or I need to houseclean. AFL Gayle : Once you get one, you'll wonder how you ever did without it, Midge. AO loads SO AFA Bard : Hiya Murray! AFL Gayle : fast from a hard drive. :) MIDGEF : (Because I like to write) MIDGEF : I just can't decide which to buy AFA Bard : I know the feeling, Mary. Mine needs a good Spring cleaning too.. just like my house. :) TEACHER ms: Hello Bard !!! AFL Gayle : Hi, Murray! What's your favorite site licensed program? MaryEz : Did someone say read a manual?!!!! Why would you do a thing like that!!:) TEACHER ms: Hello Gayle !! AFL Gayle : Because Manual Writers spend HOURS writing them, Mary. ;) MIDGEF : I love to read manuals..and I ALWAYS read them befor using software MIDGEF : I'm also Protestant RagenT : And I read Midge's notes on the manual. MaryEz : I'm a random, abstract!!}:> AFA Bard : LOL! I never read manuals until it's too late - I'm Episcopalian. :)) MIDGEF : Midge's Reader's Digest Condensed Versions RagenT : HAAAA! MIDGEF : Concrete sequential RagenT : I believe in indexes rather than Tables of COntents! MIDGEF : Cindy Field of InCider told me that she reads manuals first cause she's a half AFL Gayle : You're in trouble if you try to use Midge's HyperStudio then, Ragen. It will AFL Gayle : just say, "This manual is impossible." ;) MaryEz : Please, don't anyone clean my desk. I won't be able to find anything!! MIDGEF : breed. Part Catholic (never reads) part Protestant (always reads) AFA Bard : Me too, Midge. As for Roger's manuals - you'll find most of what you need to get you through the AFA Bard : tough spots right here online in Roger's forum. :) AFA Bard : Welcome Neal!!!!!!!!!! MIDGEF : That's all I've learned MIDGEF : plus using Marty's stacks AFL Gayle : Using Marty's stacks? Which are those, Midge? MIDGEF : Well..Yawn this Daylight Saving has my biorhythms all off AFA Bard : Wait MIDGEF : He sent me ones a long time ago about an adventure..it's very good AFA Bard : 'till tomorrow morning, Midge. :)) AFL Gayle : What kind of stack was it? A HyperStudio stack? MIDGEF : I'll be better tomorrow..hope I got all the clocks MIDGEF : Yes...wait I'll look it up RagenT : I'll make your coffee on the strong side, Midge. AFA Bard : ... now if I can just get the VCR to stop flashing 12:00..12:00..12:00... ;) AFL Gayle : Get out the manual and read how to set the time, Bard. ;) MIDGEF : It says Excellent stacks AFA Bard : :P Gayle! MaryEz : Ragen, did you bring Spanikopita for refreshments tonight? AFL Gayle : OK. Thanks, Midge. I'll have to look those up. :) AFA Bard : Spanikopita? Sounds like a Greek Opera! AFL Gayle : Before you leave, I'll have to announce our free hours winners, so we don't get AFL Gayle : stuck with one left over. ;) MIDGEF : Anyone who wants info on Delta E-mail me a mailing address RagenT : I'm so sick of Greek food, tomorrow it's lazy American housewife's salad! AFL Gayle : Applause AFA Bard : Drum roll...................... RagenT : Not sick of, rather full of!) AFL Gayle : for MaryEz and MidgeF. They used the secret words licensing and licenses. :) AFL Gayle : One free hour each for each of them. MaryEz : Thank you, Thank you!! MIDGEF : Ragen sometimes has a little Greek in her... RagenT : Yeh, M and M! AFA Bard : Wow!!! A "plurality!" I love it! Congrats!!! AFA Bard : (Welcome Prodd!) MIDGEF : WOW!!!!!
